Battery Plant Fire in Fredericktown, MO, Leads to Evacuations

Fredericktown firefighters urged residents to shelter in place or evacuate depending on their locaion.

A fire and explosions at a battery plant in Fredericktown forced evacuations Wednesday afternoon.

When heavy smoke emerged from the Critical Mineral Recovery battery processing plant Madison County 9-1-1 posted a message on its Facebook page for certain residents to evauate immediately, Fox2 reported

The 75 employees evacuated safely and there were no injuries reported in the fire that remains under investigation.
